Early in October, together with my buddies from the IPMS Slovenia, I’ve visited the Picchiatelli Trophy 2025. It was the first time for me to visit an Italian modelling show and the expectations were high.

Organised by Picchiatelli Modelling Club, the contest was held in a sports hall in Scanzorosciate a small town in the suburbs of Bergamo in N. Italy. I was expecting a fun weekend, but did not expect it to be so much fun. There were more than 1.100 models entered in various categories by modellers not just from Italy but much wider – Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and believe it or not – even Taiwan! Selection of models was awesome and a lot of stuff I haven’t yet seen displayed before. Overall quality of displayed models was very high with some exceptional pieces so a Gold, Silver, Bronze + highly commended system was fair to the modellers. I really liked the raised tables used, so our backs didn’t kill us after two days of admiring miniature works.

There wasn’t many vendors (just local ones), unfortunately, due to probably the show coinciding with the more famous E-day in Czech republic. It was interesting, that there was quite a few people visiting on Saturday and we had ample time and space to thoroughly examine the models, while Sunday was packed with people and very crowded. Of course, if you spend the day at the show, you need to hydrate and refill with energy as well. Two foodtrucks were present – one with sweet dishes like pancakes and stuff while the other one offered excellent Italian sandwiches, mini pizzas and also some soft drinks and wine. There was also a localy craft brewery present with a tap and a selection of very good beers. Organisers also prepared a dinner party in the town for the invited which was really fun and of course full of excellent Italian cuisine and red wine.

Without a doubt, Picchiatelli Trophy 2025 was a great success and I will try to do my best to return at its next iteration in 2027!
