Third ship in a row. As with other two, Buyan is also a multimedia kit of injected moulded plastic (mainly the hull), 3d printed resin (superstructure and most of details) and photoetch (mainly railings and some other details). There was some sanding required for a good fit and some minor gaps were filled using Perfect Plastic Putty.

Most of the PE parts have been attached now. After two ships in a row, I am getting a feel for these and had little issues handling and gluing them.

With all the 3d printed and photoetched parts attached and little seams cleaned and sorted it was time for a solid coat of Mr. Surfacer – I like to use black on grey subjects, giving me a nice base for some colour modulation.

Buyan was painted and decaled. Thanks to the amazin Mr.Paint paints, painting went fast like a breeze and since many of these ships have decks in the same colour as the bulkheads, no masking was required – except of course for the black stripe on the lower rear hull.

I always find it amazing how much a simple wash can bring out the details, creating the shadows and emphasizing the details – add to that a little bit of highlighting the edges with white or off-white oil paint and you’ve got a really interesting model to look at, despite it being uniform gray.

The ship is more or less finished – final details have been attached, some minimal rigging as seen on this ships along with flags and antennas and of course, since this will be water based model – some crew! Can you spot them?

I don’t have a hand of a giant so yeah, she is TINY!
